From 4th to 7th June 2018, FOPSIM representatives together with Anthony Ellul and Karen Magro, the two actors who acted in the play Moving Mountains, produced as part of the EU Collective Plays project, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme and performed at Spazju Kreattiv on 26-28/01/2018,will be attending The Oslo International Acting Festival (OIAF) in Norway.
OIAF is an international arena for artistic research and development on acting methods, aesthetics and performative approaches, organized by The Academy of Theatre, Oslo National Academy of The Arts and The Norwegian Actors’ Center. OIAF aims to raise awareness about methods, aesthetics and forms of the arts of acting and performance, nationally and internationally. The festival takes place during a full week (June 4th – 10th 2018). It brings together different academic groups, collectives of artists, performers, students and professionals to meet and exchange experiences, differences and practical knowledge and, to explore the nature and future of the art of acting.
During their stay, FOPSIM representatives and the actors will contribute the play Moving Mountain’s public reading, attend performances and talks happening in the festival. Joyce Grech, external expert on EU Collective Plays! project, will also seek out other touring possibilities for Moving Mountains. Malta’s participation in this festival will be an opportunity to go beyond the scope of the EU collective plays, thus showcasing Malta’s acting talent and writing for the theatre.
Moving Mountains is an original theatre play written by Vincent Vella. The play is written in the polyvocal theatre style, which is currently being taught in various universities worldwide. The play was produced by Joyce Grech for FOPSIM and directed by Josette Ciappara. Moving Mountains was produced as part of the EU Collective Plays project, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme. The play deals with patients’ rights for minors and the concept of faith healing.
